Green cloth binding, illustrated double-page endpapers, a superb recreation of the magnificent 1912 edition. This was the third volume in a trilogy of books by Jerrold and Robinson, which they began in 1903 with The Big Book of Nursery Rhymes (available by special order), and followed up in 1911 with The Big Book of Fairy Tales (in stock). Together, these three matched volumes contained over 1000 illustrations. Each big, impressive volume was well-received and went through several editions.

Quality sewn binding.

Charles was the brother of W. Heath and Thomas Heath Robinson, a triumverate of amazingly talented artists who did dozens upon dozens of books during the Golden Age of Illustration. W. Heath is the best known, due to his wonderful Rube-Goldberg-esque contraptions and wartime humor collections. But it's often considered that Charles was the best artist of the three. His delicate, thoughtful drawings in this book are a feast for the eyes of any child or adult.
