Tracy is on the trail of the aptly-named Mr. Bribery and his equally grotesque sister, Ugly Christine, in a story that also features a substance-abusing witch doctor and a shelf of shrunken heads. Meanwhile, newlyweds Junior and Moon Maid enter the story, and Dick Tracy’s troubles are compounded when he comes face to face with master criminal Haf-and-Haf, one side of whose face is hideously disfigured. The Space Race has found Tracy, with flying bucket-like air cars, space ships, and the alien Moon Maid shaking up things!

The introduction by Max Allan Collins, who wrote the Dick Tracy strip from 1977-1993, along with Road to Perdition and countless detective novels and comics. "Now Back to Our Story" examines "...the most controversdial era of Chester Gould's very famous comic strip...Dick Tracy on the Moon, complete with moon people--the imaginative mind behind it seems almost in conflict with itself. Gould in 1966 appears obsessed with this new path down which he's taken his famous detective..."

Bribery and Haf-and-Haf are two of the most memorable villians of Gould's later years. Gould is heading into his last decade of Tracy. Negative reaction from both Tribune Syndicate editors and readers to his new direction of magnetic space ships and air cars "made him stubbornly dig in his heels and double down. He had been innovative in the past and come up aces, after all.”

The iconic square-jawed detective's adventures fighting a menagerie of grotesque villains remain a highlight both of comics history and of crime fiction as a whole. The series is ripe for introduction to crime prose readers who haven't previously ventured into comics.
