Everything you could possibly want to know about "Golden Age" Big Little Books (1932-38) is here. Entirely in color, each front is shown full size, each back cover and spine is pictured. Every writer and artist is examined, each character history is explored, including their cross-overs from film, comic strips, radio, etc. Every variant edition is examined and shown. Special sections on BLB related items examine puzzles, penny books, cards, boxed sets and foreign translations. Each publisher is covered in depth, from giant Whitman to the most obscure. While this is not a price guide, scarce and rare items are clearly identified. A sequel volume to cover the "Silver Age" from 1939-1950 is in the works.
The first printing of this was a tiny edition, less than 150 copies. It sold out two years ago. We worked closely with Mr. Lowery, who is also the president of the Big Little Book Club, to produced this new printing, complete with revisions. Once you hold this in your hand, 5.2 lbs and 478 pages of it, full color throughout--you'll see how indispensable it is.
As a collector myself, I can confidently say this essential for any BLB fan or collector, just as the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide and the Photo-Journal are for comic book fans. From Mickey Mouse and The Shadow, to The Lone Ranger and Betty Boop, to Krazy Kat and Dick Tracy, Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon, The Green Hornet and Tarzan--each individual edition is here with every bit of information available.
