- Full Description
If anyone knows the history of the Hulk, and can offer it to you with text and abundant artwork--it's Roy Thomas. From writer to editor in chief, he was Stan Lee's right hand man. In 1962, the Hulk was created by exposure to gamma radiation in Incredible Hulk #1. Though it took a few years for him to develop his now-famous personality, he was nonetheless a weapon of destruction from that first appearance.
Not only did the Hulk fight anyone who got in his way, but his alter ego, Bruce Banner, fought the multiple personality disorder that transformed him, spawning many other versions of the Hulk, each of whom were aspects of Bruce‘s personality. Despite that, the Hulk took down the Leader, the Abomination, and Wolverine, among hundreds of other great villains. He became one of the first Avengers, then broke up with the group in a wonderful storyline back in those early days.
And then there‘s She-Hulk — you'll find full coverage of her origins and her own career here. Lots of great painted images of The Hulk, from paperback appearances, archives, televison and film promotion. From Steranko and John Byrne, Jack Kirby and John and Marie Severin, to today's artists, everyone's had a stint with our green guy.
The star of a smash-hit TV show, two blockbuster movies, and hundreds of great comics, he’s one of the most instantly recognizable characters in the world.
192 pages of carefullly chosen images, which include classic covers, important splash pages, original art, special sketches and promotional work. Plus an introduction and then informative caption with every single piece of artwork, all by Roy Thomas himself.
