Reed “Mister Fantastic” Richards, Sue “Invisible Girl” Storm, Johnny “Human Torch” Storm, and Ben “The Thing” Grimm are heroes, who love and fight with each other as only families can … and they take down otherworldly bad guys like Dr. Doom and Galactus. With 192 pages of images, and text by Roy Thomas, The Little Book of Fantastic Four is your comprehensive guide to this famous foursome!

As Roy says in his introduction, by 1967 the FF were eclipsed in sales by Spider-Man, and later on by the X-Men...but they've always been there. And they are the team--and the comic book--that spawned the Marvel Universe. Without the success of their first issues, Marvel might have thrown in the towel and given up the comics biz. Stan was asked to do an imitation of the popular Justice League of America, but instead he and Jack reinvented the super hero and turned its world completely around, making our team more human, more vulnerable, more accident-prone, more believable.

And for the first 100 issues or so, all by Jack Kirby, one of the greatest string of issues in comics, with appearances by nearly every other Marvel character, as well as the first appearance of The Silver Surfer, The Black Panther et al. Amazing stuff!

Filled with fun covers, splash pages, inside pages, plus special items like pin-up pages, poster art, original art, animation pencil cells...

Lots of unusual art here, with work by Jack Kirby, John Buscema, Alex Ross, John Byrne, Barry Windsor-Smith et al. Roy does a fine job of choosing unusual images, including lots of great Kirby.
