She debuted in All Star Comics #8 in December 1941, the warrior Princess who is also a feminist icon. Appearing in comic books, newspaper strips, and TV shows for almost 75 years, Wonder Woman stands as a towering figure in pop culture, and a role model in her fight for justice, love, peace, and gender equality.
Her creator, William Moulton Marston, said she was as beautiful as Aphrodite, as wise as Athena, as fast as Mercury, and as strong as Hercules but she's all that and more! The Little Book of Wonder Woman is your definitive guide to the most popular female comic-book Super Hero of all time.
From Adam Hughes, Terry Dodson and Frank Miller on, artists for 75 years have loved to draw Wonder Woman and put their own stamp on her tales. Here also is Linda Carter in the fabled TV series, plus lots of wonderful cover art from every decade of her comics career.
Paul Levitz is a comic book fan who began as editor/publisher of The Comic Reader, became editor of the Batman titles and others, and wrote more than 300 stories including an acclaimed run on Legion of Super-Heroes. He moved to the top at DC, finishing his 38-year stint with the company as President and Publisher. But he never stopped being a fan and has always been a friend of ours through the years. He returned to writing in 2010 with a new series of Legion stories and other projects, including the definitive history of DC comics, of which this is a part.
