Details

Someone at British publisher Egmont knew their comics, and compiled some of DC’s most iconic early Silver Age stories in these fun magazine-size issues, in crisp black and white, behind cool new painted covers. In #12 is "Invasion of the Ice People" (Superman and Wonder Woman) by Martin Pasko, Joe Staton and Jack Abel; "Ghost of the Killer Skies" (Batman meets Enemy Ace) by Neal Adams; and "Menace of the Matter Master!"—an early Brave and the Bold Hawkman tryout story by Gardner Fox and Joe Kubert. Vol. 2 issue #3 reprints "Wanted: Santa Claus—Dead or Alive!" (Batman) by Denny O'Neil, Frank Miller and Steve Mitchell; "Star Light, Star Bright…Farthest Star I See Tonight" (Legion) by Paul Levitz, Jose Garcia Lopez and Dick Giordano; and "The Man Who Murdered Santa Claus!" (JLA) by Len Wein, Dick Dillin, and Dick Giordano.

#12 Also includes a word search puzzle and a Brian Bolland DC heroes pinup. Vol 2 #3 has part two of DC Chronology (1968-1981) and Ask the Answer Man with Bob Rozakis, plus more fan features, including a letters page.

These were published long before DC began their Archives series, so they offered a unique opportunity to fans to get some of those early, never-before-reprinted stories. The painted covers are by Bryan Talbot and “The Studio.”

Overall Very Fine condition, these copies have never been circulated.
