Includes the front cover art sans text as the backcover of the jacket. Signature plate signed by Murray and Devito, and signed in facsimile by Merian C. Cooper and Edgar Rice Burroughs (since both are dead)--but it makes for a fun signature plate. The bonus Afterword, exclusive to this hardcover edition, includes EIGHT small rough drawings of various cover ideas, as well as a larger, more finished study that ended up as the final cover painting. Murray's Afterword tells a fascinating story of how this novel came about, in fits and starts over quite a few years, until it would finally gel into the ideal vehicle for both characters to come together, true to each other's legends.

In order for the cargo freighter Wanderer to make the long transit to the Atlantic, she is forced to circumnavigate Africa—jungle home of the legendary Tarzan of the Apes! Here is the long-anticipated clash between the Monarch of Skull Island and Lord of the Jungle. When the largest anthropoid who ever lived encounters the savage superman raised by the great apes, will they make peace—or war?

Writer Will Murray really thought this one out, and it was years in the making. It actually fills in the original King Kong story, since we all know Kong ends up in New York City with the beautiful Fay Wray in his clutches. But here's the missing chapter, of how Kong takes a detour into Africa and totally disrupts the tranquil jungle of Tarzan and his beloved Waziri. With total respect for both characters, Murray (author of all the new Doc Savage novels, Tarzan: Return to Pal-Ul-Don, and the noted pulp history authority who writes the interludes in each and every Sanctum pulp reprint) tackles the meeting of the two mightiest jungle entities.
