Pull up a seat to the beginning of one of the greatest tales of modern myth: the epic saga of the Mighty Thor! While vacationing in Norway, Dr. Donald Blake discovered a strange, gnarled cane. Upon striking it, a shower of lightning rained down--and the hobbled doctor found himself transformed into Thor, God of Thunder! An amazing 27 issues!

In these pages, you'll journey across the Rainbow Bridge to Eternal Asgard and meet Lord Odin, Heimdall, Balder and Thor's evil half-brother, Loki, for the first time. Plus Thor meets the X-Men, fights Magneto and lots of cool earthbound villains, and the back-up feature "Tales of Asgard" begins, with wonderful artwork by Kirby there, too.

There's an extra number of issues in this Epic collection, since there were unrelated back-up stories in the early issues of JIM that are not reprinted here. So you get more Thor. And to top it off, the mythological origins of Asgard are revealed in fan-favorite backup features!

While many fans consider the Fantastic Four and The Hulk among Stan and Jack's best creations, Thor is also often the #1 favorite for many others. Kirby really flexed his artistic chops here, and clearly what was to come in his New Gods epics for DC was first tried out in these amazing issues. Mixing vintage mythology with modern day adventures was obviously a lot of fun for both creators and it shows in these cool early stories.
