Recommended. By Bob Karp. Art by Al Taliaferro. From the Disney Vaults! This fifth volume includes 750 sequential daily comic strips from January 1, 1948, through the middle of 1950 drawn by Al Taliaferro and reproduced from original material in the Disney files! It's time to laugh again with Donald, Daisy, and those impetuous nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. No extended adventures here, these are all daily gags that mostly star the always-unique Donald getting into or out of trouble, regardless of his many foibles. Alberto Becattini's introduction says it well: “In-Jokes and New Jobs."

Taliaferro had been pencilling this series since 1938, and began inking and then lettering it in 1946. "In this period the long-time Disney stalwart was able to give the best of himself in these inventive gag-a-day strips. Writer Bob Karp [continued] the running gags revolving around Donald's jobs, including the unlikely (and fleeting) occupations such as selling soap flakes and youth cream. He is also seen as the owner of a men's clothing store, a department store, and even an aircraft company. One might think he was a clever jack-of-all-trades, in contrast to the bungler he appeared to be in the ten-pagers that Carl Barks was creating in the comic books."
