- Full Description
Walt Kelly, Disney animator on Dumbo, Fantasia, Snow White, and Pinocchio and the creator of the Pogo comic strip, from 1942 to 1946, in 13 issues, created beautiful action-packed fairy tale comic book stories--and covers and back covers and contents pages--from his own incredible imagination and ones based on The Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen classics.
For many Kelly fans, myself firmly included, this is the best of Walt Kelly. It features the superlative anthropomorphic characters, fantasy landscapes, wild creatures and far more that we get glimpses of as he continued with Pogo.
Here, he could let his imagination run wild. I personally own two sets of these, one of which is bound volumes that once belonged to an editor at Dell comics, publisher of this series. This is absolutely perfect for all ages, from kids just starting to read comics to vets like myself still astonished at Kelly's skill. And also perfect to read to pre-readers and share the wonder with them.
Stories of witches, princesses, giants, dragons, fairy queens, elves, and goblins. Enjoy fairy tale classics like The Emperor's New Clothes, The Gingerbread Man, The Wise Men of Gotham, The Lost Prince, and Cinderella (published eight years before the Disney Classic) in this gorgeous collection. Yoe Books pulled out all stops on this, and it features a gorgeous cover that looks just like a fabulous classic fairy tale book from the early 20th century.
Note: Bumped and torn corners.
