- Full Description
For the first time since their original publication in Pearson's Magazine, Warwick Goble's illustrations appear in this exquisite hardcover clothbound edition. Combining the magazine's original art with the revised text from the story's subsequent publication in book form, with more than fifty of Goble's black-and-white wash illustrations.
These provide an unforgettable visceral and atmospheric accompaniment to H. G. Wells's classic tale, very wild stuff considering these were done in the 1890s! All this is beautifully presented in the usual Calla format, emulating the original period designs. This is bound in brilliant bright red cloth, with a cover illustration and titles embossed in gold, black and orange. It's extremely striking.
Contains both of Well's original books: "The Coming of the Martians" as well as the sequel, "The Earth Under the Martians. First published in 1897 and 1898.
