The most recognizable superheroine of all time: Wonder Woman! 400 pages of the best stories, from her first appearance by in All Star #8 in 1941, though 1940s stories in Sensation Comics and her own title (lots of these), to her late 1950s make-over, to the mod ’60s redesign, to adventures from recent decades up to today. She's gone through a lot of changes over the years, but she's always been a warrior and a fighter, most often off on her own away from the other superheroes of the DC universe. Those early stories feature the rather bizarre bondage endemic to Marston's first stories (see The Secret History of Wonder Woman for the full story), until finally in the 1950s both the stories and artwork were updated to Silver Age sensibilities by Kanigher, Ross Andru and Mike Esposito (here with stories from 1958 and '59). From there she's never been out of the public eye, still billed as the first woman superhero (if you don't count Canada's Nelvana), at least in American comics.

Armed with her lasso of truth and her bullet-stopping bracelets, the Amazon Princess journeys into Man’s World again and again, spreading her mission of peace and goodwill and fiercely battling injustice where she finds it. She’s a princess, a warrior and an ambassador. Beautiful as Aphrodite, wise as Athena, stronger than Hercules, swifter than Mercury…she is Wonder Woman!
